Bears
In Kodiak we live with Kodiak brown bears near town and the streams along the road system. We hear about bears in the spring near homes on the outskirts of the community and even tales of a bear living behind the college. In 2008, we had the most reported sightings of bears near town and near the highway than at any time in my 33 years of living here. One of the most common places to see bears in the late summer and fall of 2008 were the streams located out of town just past the Coast Guard base near Bell's Flats.
